Weingut Pawis in Freyburg

Wine sales all day, tavern in the afternoon, great location. It's not cheap, but we're talking about top quality wines.

Keeping your distance due to corona resulted in snakes. Relatively much activity.

I had a medium-sized party held at the Pawis winery. This included the separate three-hour use of a beautiful room in the imposing walls, a delicious Vesper buffet with tarte flambée etc., a wine tasting and a small tour in the gallery. The communication in advance, the friendly hospitality, the cuisine and drinks were to our full satisfaction. And note, this all went despite Corona, the grape harvest and the catering for numerous day-trippers (with wonderful weather). Many thanks and all the best to the Pawis family!

A very inviting large garden invites you to linger and try, unfortunately there are no opening times to plan your stay. Wines are recommended without exception, my favorite is the Regent.

Unfortunately, I can only agree with many of the previous speakers. The wines are excellent and the location is unique, but the service in the ostrich restaurant was subterranean. No greeting, no smile, absolutely unfriendly and zero customer-oriented! The three dishes they have are overpriced. Tables are not cleaned, ashtrays are not emptied. A NO GO in Corona times!

Service is rather unfriendly. The "Erste Lage" Riesling is definitely a very good wine. Ambience rather pretentious. The toilet is locked exactly like the economy at 6 p.m. sharp. Better go back to the hey.

Very nice ambience

When it comes to white wine, Pawis is the best vintner in the Saale-Unstrut wine region, the terroir is well worked out. The property is very nice and offers a lot of ambience. The wine tasting with 3 wines for 5 € is a bit poor, but you can choose all wines up to the Great Plant. In terms of mood, I feel more comfortable (as a Rhinelander) on the Moselle and the Palatinate, where winegrowers and guests are more communicative and relaxed. Because of the good wines we will come back when we are in the region.

Delicious wine, but we've never been treated so unfriendly and unfriendly. There wasn't even any paper in the toilet.

A wonderful place to stay. Pleasant apartments, a rich breakfast, friendly service, both by the boss and the staff. The evenings can be spent enjoying the wonderful house wine on the terrace. It was our first stay there and we will be happy to come back.

We were guests in the Brunnenhaus, were warmly welcomed, had a good bacchus and ate delicious tarte flambée with it, you can sit in front of the house, but at the back of the terrace you have a wide view,

After more than 20 years in the wine business and visits to well over 100 wineries worldwide, it was by far the worst thing I have ever experienced at a winemaker! So I can only fully agree with the previous reviews! Such rudeness, arrogance paired with a lack of customer orientation and a lack of interest in the guest is really unbelievable! Arrogant explanations (only) when asked about the wine, the locations and the nature of the soil. No explanations at all, no communication or even interest in selling! More than a cool "goodbye". NEVER AGAIN ! Do you actually read your reviews ...? P.S .: You can imagine that I will tell everyone in my very large wine network about it ... Damage for the region! A little hint: Your (self-printed) labels could also be revised / improved.

The Pawis winery offers a wonderful backdrop above the Unstrutstal. The old castle and monastery complex, as well as the several seating areas, viewpoints and the playground are definitely worth a visit

A great winery that is always worth a visit, with an appealing ambience, good wines, delicious snacks, in an enchanting landscape above Freyburg. In the immediate vicinity there is a monastery church and pleasant holiday apartments.

Found this gem when searching for wineries to visit in Germany. Stopped by on our way to Berlin. Great wine and pizza, bought some to bring back to the states. Very cozy location, was nice to walk around the area. Small local towns around the area are really cool. Would go back if I’m ever in the area again.

We spent a few very pleasant nights in the well house of the Pawis winery. In a very spacious apartment we found everything we needed for a stay with a baby. We felt very comfortable in the very modern and well-kept rooms. In the restaurant of the Brunnenhaus we were able to enjoy fresh, delicious tarte flambée and of course wine from the estate. Breakfast was also excellent. Tasty delicacies are individually served here with a lot of love and passion. What also makes the stay very special is the environment. The monastery church opposite, the geopath, which is worth a walk, and the observation tower are a great start for beautiful day trips. We would love to come back!

We were in the pub and found space on the terrace. A beautiful view almost made you forget the high prices ... but the money is easy, and so you test yourself. I found the Riesling and Pinot Gris drinkable, but quite expensive for the quality. The service was good, despite the full hut, which was perhaps due to the good weather.

We actually wanted to go to the wine festival in Freyburg and made a stop at the Pawis winery to taste the wine there. Since we were there before 2pm, we were almost ignored. We were only sold a bottle of wine after asking for a long time. And only after a serious request we were given glasses. We didn't feel very welcome ... probably the winery no longer needs it ???

Having the VDP doesn't seem to mean much. In a summer saturday the beautiful place is empty with a sign on the door warning to ring the bell if you want to buy wine.

After a long time we were back at the Pawis winery and unfortunately we tended to be disappointed. Although the large and beautifully designed facility is developing more and more, the personal touch from the past has somehow been lost. The wines are still good, but unfortunately they don't have the "kick" they used to. It no longer looks like a passionate winemaker, but just like a company that has to earn money. There is certainly nothing wrong with that, but we personally don't like it that much. The food (tarte flambée) in the Strausswirtschaft was good, but relatively steep in terms of price.
